Alleghany Regional Hospital Teen Volunteer Applications AvailableMarch 13, 2008, Low Moor, VA Alleghany Regional Hospital, in partnership with Southwest Virginia Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and the Alleghany Foundation will offer the Youth Volunteers in Partnership Program (VIP) again this summer. The VIP Program, also known as the Teen Volunteer Program is designed for students 14 to 18 years of age who are interested in volunteering at Alleghany Regional Hospital and learning more about careers in the health and medical field. The VIP Program will run from June 16 to July 25. Each participant will volunteer a minimum of 20 hours over the course of the program. In addition to the volunteer experience at the hospital, students will have the opportunity to become CPR certified, attend field trips, develop community services projects and learn more about college admission and financial aid requirements. Students who volunteer for two years are eligible to apply for the ARH Volunteer Auxiliarys $1,000 scholarship. Interested students must be enrolled at Alleghany High School, Covington High School, or Bath County High School; submit a completed application that includes permission, with a parent signature, for a background check; personal essay; and letters of recommendation. Applications may be obtained in the guidance office at each school or by contacting Alleghany Regional Hospital at 540-862-6606. The program is funded in part by the Alleghany Foundation.
